Lions Valley, Nambiti

Lions Valley Lodge is the epitome of luxury adventure in South Africa. Nestled in the heart of the malaria free Nambiti Private Game Reserve just outside Ladysmith, Lions Valley Lodge is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s best-kept secrets. With over 22 000 acres of beautiful South African bush to explore, our guests are sure to experience the adventure of a lifetime.

Our guests are accommodated in lavish free-standing suites, offering maximum privacy. The décor of each of the ten suites is designed around a specific theme. Each suite has a luxurious bedroom with a walk-in cupboard and spacious lounge area. The open-plan bathrooms have two feature baths that invite long indulgent soaks. There are ‘His’ and ‘Hers’ showers in both the bathroom as well as outdoors for an added touch of magic under the African sky.

The pool terrace at the Main Lodge offers a wonderful area where guests can socialise, cool off in the spectacular infinity pool or spend a few hours relaxing on the comfortable poolside loungers enjoying the panoramic view over the game reserve and waterhole.

We take pride in making every guest’s stay with us a memorable one. So, whether you are looking to celebrate a special event, or just wanting to escape from the stresses of contemporary life, Lions Valley Lodge is the ultimate choice for a luxury holiday destination. We endeavour to ensure that every guest can relax, unwind, and submit themselves to the wonderful world of the African bush.

The expansive Nambiti Private Game Reserve is home to a plethora of different game species. These animals are all iconic symbols of the animal kingdom and are an intrinsic part of our proud African heritage. Nambiti Private Game Reserve is one of the reserves in KwaZulu-Natal that offers you the chance to see all five of these iconic animals in one place.

The reserve is also home to a range of other fascinating animals. You’ll find smaller predators such as hyenas, cheetahs and other members of the feline family. The reserve also offers a wide variety of antelope as well as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, jackal, warthog, various reptiles and a myriad of insects.

Our guests are treated to both morning and late afternoon game drives – both being a unique adventure. These drives are guided by one of our experienced field guides who will not only keep you informed, but also entertained.

Nambiti Private Game Reserve forms part of the KwaZulu-Natal battlefields. It was here, in 1899, that the Battle of Elandslaagte between the British and the Boers took place. Lions Valley Lodge can arrange for an expert battlefield guide to take you on a personalised tour, where the historic Anglo-Boer and Anglo-Zulu Wars were fought.

For fishing enthusiasts, the reserve has several dams, where guests have the opportunity to catch bass. This activity is dependent on the season and availability of the guides. Fishing equipment is not provided, guests will need to bring their own.

Massage treatments can be enjoyed either indoors or on the undercover patio of our newly established Spa Complex. Treatments are booked after arrival at the lodge. The Spa Menu is available at reception and in each suite.

We offer nature enthusiasts the chance to see all kinds of wildlife up close and in their natural surroundings on foot. Nambiti Game Reserve is home to a fascinating array of small predators, reptiles, over 300 bird species and of course the Big 5. Your safety is our number one priority during these bush walks and therefore we have strict rules in place during these walks. The cost is dependent on the option you select. Bookings can be made at the lodge and is dependent on availability of qualified guides.
