Mara Camp
Situated in the Mara triangle, the Mara camp is a seasonal authentic luxury tented camp situated on the banks of the Mara River. This location provides some of the best game viewing the region has to offer! The Mara camp is a mobile camp that moves between a number of predetermined sites, all situated on the banks of the mighty Mara River.  The camp does not move during any one week of the departures, only between certain departures. The aim is to provide a comfortable authentic base from which to explore and experience the Masai Mara during the peak of the wildebeest migration. There is nothing like spending the night camped out in one of Kenya’s premier conservation areas.  Making use of various campsites (some situated within the National Parks with others situated on the boundary) East Africa will ensure that your authentic safari experience in Kenya is a memorable one.

Location
Being located on the banks of the Mara River, close to some of the most regularly used crossing points certainly has its perks. Our proximity to the river means that we can not only make the most of the early morning and late afternoon light, but that we are able to wait for potential crossings right up until sunset with camp being a short 10 minute drive away. There have been many occasions when other operators have had to leave sightings or potential river crossings – missing out on great photo opportunities in magic light.

Exclusivity
With a maximum of just 12 guests in the Mara camp our Maasai staff will ensure that you are treated like royalty rather than being just another number which is often the case in a larger camps. With a staff / guest ratio of 1:1 you will be guaranteed a personalized and attentive service. If you’re celebrating a special occasion on your safari then please do let us know so that we can plan a little something special and intimate for you!

Game Drives
One of the key differentiators at the Mara camp is that guests are not restricted to just morning and afternoon drives. We encourage our guests to stay out for as long as they would like, being restricted only by the Mara Triangle Conservancy Regulations. This means that guests are able to enjoy full day drives into the Masai Mara, making the most of their time in one of the most fascinating systems in the world. Our fleet of four Toyota Landcruisers have been specifically converted to make your game drives a comfortable and enjoyable experience with pop-top roofs and extra-large windows to cater for our photographic clients.  We have further ensured complete comfort by only having 4 seats in the back of the vehicle. This will give you more than sufficient space to stretch your legs and move around freely in the vehicle. There is also loads of room for camera equipment. Don’t want to return to camp for lunch? No problem, we’ll send lunch out to you, to be enjoyed beneath the shade of a Balanite tree as you wait for the eminent crossing of wildebeest to take place…

River Crossings
For many people, witnessing a river crossing is top of the list when visiting the Masai Mara and understandably so. Almost without fail, this becomes the focus of our game drives for the first couple of days until at least every guest has witnessed at least one crossing. Whilst nature is unpredictable we have done our best to “stack the odds” in your favour. The combination of being situated right on the banks of the Mara River (Close to some of the most regularly used crossing points), the time of year (August and September represent the traditional peak of the migration season), the flexibility of game drives (often we will spend a whole day out and have lunch brought to us so that we don’t miss a thing) means that we have been able to deliver at least one dramatic river crossing for each and every group of guests that have stayed at the Mara camp.
